Jennifer has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Environmental Science from American Military University and a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Ohio University.
Jennifer founded EBWB, Inc. in 2007, becoming 285 Engineering in 2016. The company was started with a vision of providing wastewater system engineering and wetland consulting throughout the mountain communities of Colorado. While owning and operating the company, she also gained experience in several sectors of Civil and Environmental engineering, including; Grading plans, Erosion and Sediment Control plans, Drainage design, Driveway design, General Site Development plans, and Soil and Foundation reports.
Jennifer has served on the Colorado Professionals in Onsite Wastewater (CPOW) Board of Directors, holding the position of President in 2014 and currently holds the position of President Elect.

Tyler earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Colorado School of Mines in 2017. He has been in the wastewater industry for 11 years. He worked three years as an OWTS installer and two years as an OWTS inspector for title transfers in Alaska. He holds certificates for CPOW Soil and Site Evaluation and NAWT Designer. Tyler has been with 285 Engineering since 2017.

Jessica earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Environmental Health from University of Northern Iowa and a Master of Science Degree in Environmental Policy and Management from University of Denver. She has served on the Colorado Professionals of Onsite Wastewater (CPOW) board of directors for six years. During her time at CPOW, she served on several committees, held the position of Secretary, and most recently served as President. She is a Registered Environmental Health Specialist and previously worked five years for Tri-County Health Department as an Environmental Health Specialist III, where she specialized in regulating onsite wastewater treatment systems, pools, and transient non-community water systems. She also holds certificates for CPOW Soil and Site Evaluation and NAWT Designer. Jessica has been with 285 Engineering since 2019.
Matthew has worked in the Geotechnical Engineering industry for over 20 years. He earned his Bachelor of Science Geology Degree from West Virginia University in 2000. He currently specializes in OWTS design and also manages geotechnical, environmental, and wetlands projects. He has been an active member of CPOW and served on the board as

He currently specializes in OWTS design and also manages geotechnical, environmental, and wetlands projects. He has been an active member of CPOW and served on the board as president. He has also contributed to the development of several of the CPOW educational courses. Matt holds certificates for CPOW Soil and Site Evaluation, NAWT Designer, and NAWT Inspector. When Matt isn’t working in the outdoors, he spends his free time in the outdoors mountain biking, snowboarding, etc., with a lifelong passion for whitewater and river running. He currently resides in Buena Vista, CO and manages 285 Engineering projects primarily in Chaffee, Lake, Summit, and western Park Counties. Matthew has been with 285 Engineering since January of 2021.
John graduated from the University of Denver in 2018 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked for several years as a financial consultant, where he had the opportunity to advise a septic pumping business and instantly fell in love with the onsite wastewater industry. John earned certificates for CPOW Soil and Site Evaluation as

Shawna has over 12 years of customer-management experience and attended the 2023 CPOW Conference to continue learning about the onsite wastewater industry and better serve our clients.

This is an entry/mid-level position in the Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems (OWTS) Industry with EBWB, Inc. dba 285 Engineering. This position will primarily involve the design (with associated tasks) of residential and small commercial OWTS. Residential work will generally be limited to the Front Range of Colorado. Commercial projects may be located throughout Colorado.
The basic functions of this position include drafting of construction drawings, site evaluations, soils testing and logging of test pits, various field measurements, and report preparation. As the employee progresses, the employee will work more independently and direct client contact will occur.
Field Work - Approximately 40% of employee time will be spent out of the office, in the field. Fieldwork duties may include collecting subsurface information primarily from excavated test pits, occasional sampling, various site measurements, various wastewater design decisions, and construction inspections. The ability to meet the physical demands of the position is a requirement. Physical demands include walking on uneven terrain/steep slopes and working in all weather conditions.
Office Work - Office work will consist of the development of designs and reports based on data obtained from the fieldwork, or provided by a supervisor. Types of reports will include, but not limited to: OWTS construction drawings, OWTS Installation Observations reports, and project reports related OWTS duties. Report content will typically include text, CADD drawings, and soil data. Computer use is essential. Applications include MS Office (Word and Excel), AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD LT, PumpSelect, GIS, and other mapping software.
Other office work will include, attendance of office and project meetings, and occasional training workshops.
Other Functions - This position may require similar associated functions in the employee's work area related to civil, geotechnical or environmental engineering, and other associated work to promote the success of the company.
Based on the interest and capabilities of the employee, and the opportunities that arise, the employee may be provided the opportunity to participate in special projects not necessarily directly connected to the primary job functions or work area. Special projects include work on larger OWTS projects. Special projects may also include work on associated investigations and report preparation that are not considered typical day-to-day projects. Opportunities to attend in-state or out-of-state wastewater conferences may arise. Participation in local conferences, workshops, and seminars, in addition to attendance and participation in local regulatory meetings may be required.
Qualification Standards - The individual filling this position will typically have a technical degree in the sciences with a strong interest in wastewater treatment. Higher levels of education and/or work experience in the field of onsite wastewater systems are considered a plus and may be reflected in the employee pay rate.
Position starts at $28 - $35 per hour dependent upon qualifications and experience.

This is primarily a civil engineering/designer position focused on the development of civil designs for the residential and small commercial market. The responsibility to create civil drawings using Autodesk Civil 3D. Experience in preparing civil construction plans, site planning, site grading and utility plans using software and sound engineering principles.
The primary function of this position is to enhance the company’s technical services abilities, resulting in the expansion of company’s growth in civil design.
85% Office Work – Approximately 85% of employee time will be spent working from the employee’s home office or office space provided in either Conifer or Buena Vista. Duties will primarily include the development of drainage, grading, and utility plans for residential and small commercial developments.
5% Field Work - As a rule, approximately 5% of employee time will be spent out of the office, performing field work. This will generally include preliminary site visits but may also include follow-up site visits to verify work has been completed in accordance with the design.
10% Special Projects – Based on the interest and capabilities of the employee, and the opportunities that arise, the employee may be provided the opportunity to participate in special projects not necessarily directly related to the primary job functions. As directed, time may be spent on special projects aimed at improving the company’s position in the marketplace, and to promote the success of the company. Projects may include unique land development design; hydrology design; stream restoration; wetland delineation; onsite wastewater treatment system design; roadway design, and subdivision documents. Opportunities to attend in-state or out-of-state conferences may arise. Participation in local conferences, workshops, and seminars, in addition to attendance and participation in local regulatory meetings may be required.
Qualification Standards – Although not required, the individual filling this position will typically have a Bachelor of Science degree, or technical degree in a related field such as engineering or environmental science. Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D required.
